Laupin ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Outage Alerts BC mobile application. This page explains what information the app accesses, how it is used, and your choices.

Information We Collect

Outage Alerts BC is designed with privacy in mind. We aim to collect as little personal information as possible.

Location data (optional). If you enable the "Nearby outage alerts" feature, the app uses the address or postal code you enter to determine outages near you. This information is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

Favourites and preferences. Outage data you save as favourites, along with your settings (alert radius, notification preferences), are stored locally on your device.

Outage data. The app fetches outage information from BC Hydro's publicly available outage data feed. These requests go directly from your device to BC Hydro — we do not operate a proxy or intermediary server, and we do not see or log these requests.

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

• Names, email addresses, or other personal identifiers
• Precise GPS location or device location services data
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Usage analytics or behavioral tracking data
• Crash reports (unless you choose to share them through your device's operating system)

Third-Party Services

The app connects to BC Hydro's public outage feed to retrieve outage information. BC Hydro's own privacy practices govern data collected through their services. We encourage you to review BC Hydro's privacy policy for more information.

We do not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Push Notifications

The app can send local push notifications to alert you about changes to your saved (favourited) outages or new outages near your saved location. These notifications are generated entirely on your device based on data fetched from BC Hydro. No notification data is sent to or processed by our servers.

Data Storage and Security

All app data — including your favourites, settings, and saved alert location — is stored locally on your device. We do not operate backend servers that store user data. If you uninstall the app, all locally stored data is deleted.

Children's Privacy

Our app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
